What migration means
Migration moves your data from the old system to the new one: customers, contracts, balances, and payment histories. For an enterprise lender, this can mean millions of records.
Alfa has done large migrations. That experience helps. It does not remove your need to plan and verify.
Tie-out is the test
After migration, totals must match the old system to the penny. Receivables, contract counts, and delinquency buckets must all agree. This is called tie-out.
Ask how tie-out works, who signs off, and what happens when a contract does not map cleanly.
What to ask
- How many migrations from our current system have you done?
- Is migration fixed price or time and materials?
- How many test migrations are included?
- What is the rollback plan if go-live fails?
- Who validates balances, us or you?
Start now
Clean data migrates faster and cheaper. You can start cleanup before you pick a vendor. Use the checklist below to track the work.
The contracts that will not map
Every portfolio has odd contracts: unusual schedules, old fee types, one-off amendments. These break migrations.
Ask how exceptions are handled and get the exception process in writing. Ask how many test migrations are included. Two full rehearsals should be the minimum for a complex book.
