What floorplan is
Floorplan is a loan against a dealer's inventory. A dealer has thirty machines on the lot. The lender finances them. When a machine sells, the dealer pays down that unit.
Floorplan is different from retail financing. Retail finances the buyer. Floorplan finances the seller's stock. Alfa lists wholesale floorplan as a platform function.
Why floorplan is hard
Each unit has its own serial number, cost, and status. Units sell, move, and age. The system must track every unit and curtailments. A curtailment is a scheduled partial paydown that keeps the loan balanced as inventory ages.
Unit-level tracking is where weak systems fail. Ask to see fifty units under one dealer, with three sold this week.
Who this matters for
If you finance equipment dealers, floorplan capability may be the reason to shortlist Alfa. If you only finance end users, you may never touch it. Do not pay for scope you will not use.
Demo checks
- Show a dealer with many units financed.
- Sell one unit and show the paydown.
- Show an aging report across all dealers.
- Show a curtailment schedule being applied.
A worked example
Say you floorplan a dealer with forty units. Five sell this week, two are added, and one unit is ninety days old.
The system should apply paydowns, add the new units, and flag the aging unit for curtailment. Ask to see exactly that in the demo. If it takes three screens and a spreadsheet, keep looking.
Floorplan checks
- Units track individually under each dealer.
- Sales trigger paydowns automatically.
- Aging units flag for curtailment.
- Dealer self-service status exists.
