What contract onboarding means
Onboarding is how a funded deal becomes a serviced contract. The deal data — customer, terms, schedule, documents — has to arrive complete and correct, or every downstream step inherits the error.
Ask Lendscape how contracts arrive: from your origination system through the API, from a file import, or by hand. Each path has a different labor and error profile.
The re-keying test
Count how many times a person types the same contract data between funding and the first invoice. Each re-type is labor and error risk. Use the tool below with your own numbers to price that labor today.
A worked example
Say you fund 40 deals a month. If onboarding takes 20 minutes per deal by hand, that is about 13 hours of monthly labor — before fixing the errors. An API onboarding path should cut that to review time only.
Expected output in the demo: a contract created from an API payload or import file, with validation errors flagged before the contract goes live, not after the first invoice is wrong.
The exception to check
Ask what happens when a contract arrives with a missing field or a bad date. The platform should reject it with a clear error and hold it in a queue, not book it silently and let billing break later.
Also ask how onboarding handles a bulk import at cutover versus a single new deal in steady state. The two paths are often different tools with different validation, and you will use both.

Manual re-keying cost
Count how many records your team re-types each month and how long each takes. Loaded hourly cost means wage plus benefits and overhead.
| Hours per month | 10.0 |
| Labor value per month | $350 |
| Rekey labor + software per funded deal | $14.00 |
Cost per deal covers only re-keying labor plus the software line item. It is not a full origination cost.
